The Me Track: Self Leadership

Turning Setbacks into Leadership Fuel

About this session
“The Growth Mindset in Practice: Turning Setbacks into Leadership Fuel” — Dr. Contessa Jackson (Saturday, 1:30 PM). The session title is printed on the handout card.
What the session explored
Participants ran one setback through F.U.E.L.: Face it (what actually happened?), Unhook it (what does this not mean about you?), Extract it (what did it teach you?) and Leverage it (what will you do next?). The back of the card asked for a next move, a date, one person to ask for help by name, what to stop saying about yourself, and what to do differently in the next seven days. Its message: a setback is not a verdict.
Kimberly’s reflection
Growth becomes practical when a setback leads to a next step. Naming a person and a date turns reflection into a plan someone can hold you to.
For a new member
Bring one real setback to your first chapter season and use it as a starting point, not something to hide.
Next-step question
What is one setback I still think about — and what is my next move, by when?
